He said that he and others at Cyan are contemplating an assortment of options, including relaunching Uru on its own. The first time occurred in early 2004 in that case, French content company UbiSoft shut down Uru after just a few months of a beta launch.Ĭyan CEO Rand Miller is uncertain what the options are. This was the second time Uru began a promising life, only to be shut down by its online publisher. Last week online video game site GameTap said it would shut down Cyan’s vast and multilayered game, Uru, within 60 days.

It sucks you in with its crazed setting and bonkers atmosphere which permeates everything and while the gameplay isn't overly complex or deep, there's a genuine sense of adventure and exploration here and which makes this one to be tracked down.Twice burned by companies that published and then shut down online versions of its most ambitious project ever, Spokane’s Cyan Worlds is looking at options and seeking new partners to keep its offices open.

There's not much around that's similar to Cosmic Osmo, except perhaps The Manhole, which was an earlier game from the same developers but if you're up for something unusual and original, then this is well worth checking out. In a nod to the younger target audience, there's no way to die here and you can't actually lose, which does make it less challenging than other similar games, but also makes it very accessible and perhaps even more enjoyable. This one is perhaps more focused on exploration than puzzle solving and you can venture around pretty much to your heart's content, clicking on things to trigger events as you try to figure out what the heck is going on. The plot and setting are as bizarre as you would expect from the title, and provide some fun along the way, but it all boils down to the fact that you have to explore a science fiction setting, while solving puzzles and generally soaking up the atmosphere. This one can sort of be seen as a dry run for that experience but designed for younger adventurers but to be honest, even genre veterans should get some serious entertainment here. Bizarre title aside, this is a cracking point-and-click adventure for junior gamers which was released by Cyan, best known for the monumentally successful game that is Myst.
